 Bangalore, 3rd Oct: Applications have been invited for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2011), to be held online on January 30, 2011(Sunday). The offline test will be held on February 13, 2011, across the country for admission to Post-Graduate programmes with Ministry of Human Resource Development scholarships/ assistantships. IIT Madras will be the organising institute for GATE 2011. Eligibility: Bachelor's degree holders in engineering/ technology/ architecture, and those who are in the final year of such programmes; Master's degree holders in any branch of science/ mathematics/ statistics/ computer applications; candidates in the second or higher year of their four-year integrated Master's degree programme (post B.Sc.) in engineering/ technology or in the third or higher year of their five-year integrated Master's degree/ dual degree programme in engineering/ technology are eligible to appear for the test. How to apply Candidate can apply either online or offline. The online application fee is Rs.800 and offline is Rs.1,000. The application fee for SC/ST candidates is Rs.400 (online) and Rs.500 (offline). Application forms and information brochures can be obtained on payment of Rs.1,000 from designated SBI branches. The last date for receipt of completed online/ offline application at the GATE office is November 2. The examination consists of a single paper of three hour duration. It contains 65 questions carrying a maximum of 100 marks. The question paper will consist of objective multiple-choice type questions. There will be negative marking for each wrong answer.
