 New Delhi, 7th Dec: The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) will hold a Joint Admission Test on May 8, 2011 across the country for admission to its various programmes. Those interested can also apply online to appear for the entrance test from December 22 onwards. Application forms and other details can be obtained from select branches of the Punjab National Bank from December 22 to January 21, 2011 on payment of Rs.1,000. For female candidates the fee is Rs.900, and for SC/ST/ physically handicapped candidates it is Rs.500. The bank branches at Thiruvananthapuram (Station Road), Kochi (Mattancherry), Coimbatore (Oppanakkara Street), Tiruchirappalli (Cantonment), Chennai (NSC Bose Road and T. Nagar), Bangalore (city), Mangalore (Balmatte Road), Hyderabad (Banjara hills), Delhi (Hauzkhas, Janapath, Maharani Bagh and Vivek Vihar), Mumbai (Ghatkopar East and NC Kelkar Road – Dadar) will distribute forms. The preferred mode of application is online through the web link www.iitr.ac.in/jam. The fee for online applications should be paid through a demand draft drawn in favour of chairman, JAM 2011, IIT Roorkee, on any bank payable at Roorkee. The duly filled in application form should be sent by registered post to the Organising Chairman, JAM 2011, IIT Roorkee, Roorkee 247667 so as to reach the addressee on or before January 31, 2011. Courses IIT Bombay: Two-year fulltime M.Sc. programmes in applied geology, applied geophysics, applied statistics and informatics, biotechnology, chemistry, mathematics and physics. M.Sc.-Ph.D. dual degree programmes in applied geology, applied geophysics, biotechnology, energy, environmental science and engineering, operational research and physics. Both the degrees will be awarded together after the successful completion of the programmes. IIT Delhi: M.Sc. degree course in chemistry, mathematics and physics. IIT Guwahati: M.Sc. degree course in chemistry, mathematics, computing and physics. IIT Hyderabad: M.Sc. degree course in chemistry and physics. IIT Kanpur: M.Sc. degree course in chemistry, mathematics, physics and statistics; M.Sc.-Ph.D. dual degree programme in physics. IIT Kharagpur: Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D. programmes in chemistry, geology, mathematics and physics. IIT Madras: M.Sc. programmes in chemistry, mathematics and physics. For M.Sc. physics at IITs in Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kanpur, Madras and Roorkee, joint M.Sc.-Ph.D. in physics at IIT Kharagpur, candidates must have a Bachelor's degree with physics and mathematics as subjects. For M.Sc.-Ph.D. dual degree in energy at IIT Bombay, candidates must have a Bachelor's degree with any one among chemistry, mathematics and physics a a subject.
